Youth United
T Squared is part of an affiliate driven Youth United program that mobilizes young people to fully fund and build a house with Athens Area Habitat for Humanity.
Supported by Athens Area Habitat, Youth United brings young people, including Habitat homeowner youth, together from throughout a community to sponsor and build a Habitat home. Students learn leadership and teamwork skills, and gain a better understanding of their community and poverty housing. All students are engaged in fund raising, education and advocacy activities, while those over 16 help with the actual house construction.
The goals of Youth United are to:
- Involve youth in their community.
- Engage youth in Habitat’s mission of eliminating poverty housing.
- Foster teamwork among diverse groups of youth.
- Develop youth leaders.
The mission of T Squared is to empower Athens Area youth to make a difference in their community through advocacy, fundraising, and volunteerism.
